The flagship project demanded nothing short of perfection, which is why the BESISTA® tension rod system was specifically chosen. Its durable hot-dip galvanized finish perfectly met the project's rigorous requirements. The intricate timber elements were prefabricated in Germany and assembled on-site with utmost precision by Merk Holzbau. To optimize cost-effectiveness, the BESISTA® rod systems were directly supplied to Spain, bypassing intermediaries.
In addition to providing shade, the mushroom-like roof construction also encompasses shops, bars, a restaurant, a market, and even an archaeological museum. Elevated walkways on the roof offer breathtaking panoramic views of the beautiful Andalusian city.
The incorporation of 3,600 BESISTA® tension rod systems seamlessly integrates with the organic forms of the structure. These high-quality systems, renowned for their safety and reliability, ensure the stability of the delicate assembly. In 2012, the design received the esteemed red dot design award, followed by a nomination for the 2013 Mies van der Rohe Award, further highlighting its exceptional concept.
